The Cardiocentro Institute is fully integrated into the public health system of the Cantonal Hospital since January 1st, 2021. Cardiocentro Ticino was born as a private foundation in 1995 by the will of the financier Dr. Eduard Zwick and thanks to the tireless and far-sighted commitment of Prof. Tiziano Moccetti, who has held the reins for over twenty years since its inauguration on July 1st, 1999.
Currently, Cardiocentro is not only an indispensable garrison in the area for the prevention and treatment of heart disease, but a reality of international prestige, protagonist in the research field and strongly committed to training and holds important and constant medical and scientific relations with renowned universities and research institutes in Switzerland and around the world.
More recently, Cardiocentro has made its proficiencies and facilities available for the organization and startup of the new Faculty of Biomedical Sciences from the Università della Svizzera italiana, with a leading role in carrying out the Master in human medicine which started in 2020.
