The rooms
All rooms are big and bright and can accommodate two patients at the most. Equipped with a bedside monitor for patient surveillance on a 24-hour basis, they guarantee maximum patient safety. Every room has modern, fully-automated beds, a bathroom with shower, a TV set and a personal telephone with a direct number, to be requested at the Reception Desk.
Use of telephone
Patient’s calls – outgoing or incoming, are allowed only from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., while in private rooms there is no time limit.
Valuables
It is advisable not to bring any valuables when admitted to hospital. In case of emergency admission, any patient’s valuables can be deposited at the Reception Desk and withdrawn when discharged. The Hospital Management declines all responsibility for valuables or objects that are not deposited at the Reception Desk.
Meals and diets
The health of our patients is the focus of our attention, therefore we strive to satisfy also their food and dietary needs, or any particular request they may have. Patients can choose between 2 different menus, or ask for customised meals. Meal hours are as follows:
- Breakfast: 8:00-8:15 a.m.
- Lunch: 12:00-12:15 a.m.
- Tea/coffee round: 2:00-2:15 p.m.
- Supper: 6:00-6:15 p.m.
- Camomile-tea round: 8:00-8:15 p.m.
Beyond the meal hours indicated above, herbal teas, mineral water or snacks are served. Please inform the hospital staff in case your relatives or friend bring you any food or beverages, because they may be unsuited to the treatment you are following.
The structure has its own cafeteria (named Baricentro) with a panoramic view, open from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. from Monday to Friday, which offers a variety of meals, sandwiches, toasted sandwiches and beverages. On the same floor there are also two automatic dispensers with coffee and packaged drinks.
Newspapers and magazines
At the cafeteria Baricentro it is possible to read all the newspapers of the Ticino Canton and a number of magazines. You can buy newspapers, magazines and other items at the kiosk located at the entrance of Ospedale Civico..
Mail services
The Cardiocentro Ticino staff will deliver your mail directly to you. You can put your outgoing mail in the mail box at the entrance of Ospedale Civico.
Religion
All the patients have the right to spiritual support. Within the limits of our resources, we try to satisfy all needs and habits of our patients, regardless of their religious belief.
The Catholic Chapel is on the first basement floor of Ospedale Civico and can be visited at any time. Mass is held on weekdays at 2:15 p.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays at 9:30 a.m.. Patients can ask to take Holy Communion directly in their rooms.
