The academic staff at the Biomedical Science Faculty of Università della Svizzera Italiana (USI), has a new member.
Under the supervision of the Dean Prof. Mario Bianchetti, the faculty will have to provide the new degree course with the highest standard in teaching and research.
Cardiocentro represents an excellence in the Southern Italian speaking Ticino Canton health system and will take part to this project with major responsibility.
After Giovanni Pedrazzini’s last year nomination as member of the first Faculty staff, Angelo Auricchio, Professor at the University of Magdeburg, has been now appointed full Professor.
“We are delighted to have Professor Auricchio in our staff” the Dean of Faculty Mario Bianchetti has stated,-because we are well aware of his scientific achievements and we appreciate his commitment and experience in teaching.
His presence in the academic staff represents an enrichment to our staff, as Professor Auricchio is a valued international expert in the field of electrophysiology. To use a soccer metaphor, we have enrolled a “top-player”.
“It must be said that this nomination is an institutional reward of a current status”- adds Bianchetti – as Professor Auricchio has been for years at USI for his position as co-founder and co-director of the Centre for Computation Medicine in Cardiology, incorporated in the Institute of Computational Science of USI. The Centre represents an established relationship between Cardiocentro and USI, a relationship that the new Biomedical Science Faculty can only reinforce.
