Clinical Research in Electrophysiology
The Electrophysiology and Electro-stimulation Department at Cardiocentro is strongly committed to various lines of research, including:
• Transcatheter ablation of atrial fibrillation (AF) and malignant ventricular arrhythmias: The department focuses on the research and development of new ablation techniques for the treatment of atrial fibrillation and other malignant ventricular arrhythmias.
• Mapping of the arrhythmic substrate: The study and mapping of the arrhythmic substrate are important to understand the causes and mechanisms of different arrhythmias. The department is committed to research to identify the specific arrhythmic substrate associated with each arrhythmia and to develop targeted treatment strategies.
• Identification of the best left ventricular stimulation strategies: In the context of patients with dual-chamber pacemakers and/or implantable cardioverters, the department is dedicated to researching optimal approaches for left ventricular stimulation, with the aim of improving cardiac function and patients’ quality of life.
• New pacing technologies: The department focuses on evaluating and implementing new pacing technologies, in order to define new standards of care in the treatment of arrhythmias.
• Prevention of sudden cardiac death: The research focuses on preventing sudden cardiac death by identifying risk factors, developing new therapeutic approaches, and assessing the effectiveness of preventive measures.
