Percutaneous aortic valve implantation
Aortic valve stenosis is a degeneration of the valve located between the left ventricle and the aorta – a narrowing (stenosis) of the valve resulting in blood flow reduction.
For patients at high risk of cardiac surgery, Istituto Cardiocentro Ticino can now offer a percutaneous approach, consisting in the introduction of a prosthetic valve using the vascular route (through the femoral artery), implanted (expanded) in the site of the malfunctioning valve.
